SALARY
The Taylor Police Department, a civil service police agency offers police
recruits and experienced officers an extremely attractive salary and benefits
package. Unlike some Texas agencies, our salary is calculated based
on 40 hours per week, 2080 hours per year.
POLICE RECRUITS
As a Taylor Police recruit with no previous law enforcement experience, you will
be hired at a salary of $39,755.95 and will be paid to attend an area police
academy. You will receive excellent benefits, as
well. We will provide all of your equipment, uniforms and transportation
from the police department to the academy. It is our goal to help you
succeed in your career.
Paid training, paid tuition and a salary of $39,755.95!? What do we
expect in return? We require recruits execute an agreement to work for our
agency for 36 months .
By civil service law and local rules, you must be at least 21 years old at
the time of academy graduation and less than 45 years of age to take our test.

LICENSED POLICE OFFICERS - LATERAL
ENTRY
The Taylor Police recognizes the value of experienced police officers to our
agency, so we will pay for your experience. You will be placed on our
salary chart and given year for year credit if the agency in which you served
had 15 or more sworn members. Small agency service receives 1/2 year
credit per year of service.

CIVIL
SERVICE POLICE OFFICER
After police recruits complete their 18 month probationary period (licensed
officers' probation is 12 months) you will become a "Civil Service Police
Officer." You will then receive:
- 120 hours paid vacation per year
- 120 hours paid sick leaver per year (which accrues and up to 720
hours are paid upon separation)
- Civil Service Protection
