The Taylor Police Department's Testing process is as follows:

CIVIL SERVICE TEST
The Taylor Police Department hires police recruits and police officers from one civil service list consisting of qualified applicants (age 20-44) that pass our test.  The test is a basic skills, police aptitude test. Those who pass the test and show proof of an honorable discharge from the military via Form DD214 (this must be attached to their employment application) are eligible to receive 5 additional points.  A score of 70% is required to pass this test and be eligible to move on to the next portion of candidate screening, our physical agility test.  The eligibility list is in effect until it is exhausted or expires at 1 year.
