INTENSIVE BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION
Applicants that pass the civil service examination and physical agility test are
placed on the civil service eligibility list and are then considered for
department vacancies. An intensive background investigation is then conducted to
insure that the applicant meets all requirements to attend a police academy (if
not already licensed), meets all legal personal character requirements for State
licensure and meets our strict local standards.
ORAL INTERVIEW BOARD
Applicants that are not disqualified by
the background investigation the proceed to an oral interview
board. Members of the department of varying ranks
interview the candidate in an effort to determine the
candidate's fitness for employment. This interview may
be followed with an interview with the Chief of Police.
After a conditional offer of employment, all applicants are subject to a drug
screen and must pass medical and psychological examinations prior to employment.
